Sustainability

Creating a sustainable Hawaii is as much a labor and business concern as it is an environmental one. That’s why The Pacific Resource Partnership (PRP) actively engaged itself in the Hawaii 2050 plan and other efforts to create a sustainable future for our state. We believe true sustainability focuses on more than just the environment – it encompasses a broad range of topics, including:

  • Careful planning of how our land is used, including reasonable growth with quality infrastructure – schools, health care facilities, roads, etc. – to support it
  • Creating a well-trained workforce and giving them the opportunity to have fulfilling jobs
  • Providing adequate and affordable housing
  • Diversifying our economy
  • Building efficient transportation systems
  • Creating communities that allow residents to reach their personal aspirations

Sustainability is about building a stronger, more vibrant Hawaii, balancing the needs of our society, our economy and our environment, while taking into account the values that make Hawaii such a special place.
